I don’t really hate Peterborough, I just don’t like them especially after that 7-1 humiliation at London Road at the start of the season. I can’t stand the trio of Darren Ferguson, Barry Fry and owner Darragh MacAnthony. Oh and then there’s Lee Tomlinson, Paul Taylor………..!
Max was back home for reading week and so therefore volunteered to be on “care duty” at a very wet Portman Road. We had all been to Milsoms the previous evening for a surprise party to celebrate Kev’s sixtieth birthday and were feeling a little delicate!
Following a couple of decent away draws at Southampton and Hull I was feeling very confident of another home victory, we were far from our best and a better team would have taken us to the cleaners but Posh are far from that. We traded goals with Peterborough, Grant Leadbitter gave us the lead after 15 minutes with a thumping shot, Tyrone Barnett equalised on 34. Daryl Murphy with a close range header soon after the break restored our advantage but Emile Sinclair (on the pitch for just 2 minutes) leveled things up once again, before Aaron Cresswell scoring his first goal for the club, all be it with a deflection, ensured a sweet victory for Town.
I always felt that there would be goals in this match and predicted a 4-2 win for Ipswich so imagine my feelings when in the 90th minute when Paul Jones saved sub Jason Scotland’s goal bound shot, perhaps I should now add him to the above list!
