I don’t usually go to pre-season friendlies but Max was keen to go to Colchester on Tuesday night to check out our latest two of seven new signings Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and David Stockdale. I hadn’t been to Col U’s new “Weston Homes Community Stadium” before so I tagged along with him, his mate Arun and his brother Kiran.
The match was abandoned after 78 minutes following a collision between Colchester’s Andy Bond (who was knocked out cold for several minutes and needed help to an ambulance which had been brought on to the edge of the pitch) and his keeper Mark Cousins. The match was 0-0 at the time and it was difficult to see where a goal would come from. Several ITFC fans started singing “we want our money back” which was quite humorous but when they saw Bond get up to his feet, they started booing! which I think is well out of order and something that I have never witnessed before- even a badly injured Norwich player at Portman Road would get a sympathetic round of applause!
