No fear of the rearranged game with ‘Boro being postponed again, spring has definitely sprung, the clocks are on BST and the Daffodils are now in full bloom.
We found some cheap flights to Carcassonne and decided to take advantage of them and visit our house in France for a weekend break rather than go to Watford, it’s hard to believe that you can get a return flight to the south of France for the cost of a football ticket! Judging from the reports that I’ve read it was the right decision, a no show from Town in the second half and poor defending led to another defeat at the hands of our bogey team. The only downside of our trip was that we had to have Strummer our trusty old black Labrador put to sleep. He was just a couple of weeks short of his fourteenth birthday, old age finally caught up with him. Our sad news was however brightened with the arrival of Madeleine Bracey, first grandchild for Kevin & Tracey. “One in, one out” as Kev would say!
Ipswich started the match brightly against the playoff chasing 'Boro and it was quite an open game. Jet “won” a penalty after 58 minutes after he was bundled over in the box, Grant Leadbitter, back after serving his one match ban had his spot kick saved by Jason Steele, justice? The visitors took the lead 5 minutes later through January signing Lukas Jutkiewicz and for a brief spell afterwards I sensed an ITFC collapse looming. However my fears were proved to be unfounded 16 minutes from time when Leadbitter made amends for his earlier miss leveling things up with a long range thunderbolt. After that we were on top and I felt that we may go on to grab all three points. Our recent good home form held up and a draw was probably a fair result.
