No Chop For Michael But Jimmy Axed ITFC 3-0 Bristol City 03 03 2012

Off the field incidents have once again grabbed the ITFC headlines following Jimmy Bullard’s two week suspension and Michael Chopra’s fine of two weeks wages after the pair were late for training on Thursday after a two day bender in Newcastle. It’s very disappointing as the club have given Bullard a chance to re-launch his career and have helped Chopra with his much publicised gambling addiction, even paying off loan sharks, I think they both owe the club big time and ought to be a bit more respectful.
Anyway more importantly on the pitch we had a good win over relegation threatened Bristol City, the second home three niller on the trot and also the same score line as our opening day victory over them at Ashton Gate. The goals came from “bad boy” Chopra in the first half, whilst Tommy Smith (who also hit the bar soon after) and Andy Drury with a thunderbolt from 25 yards out added the other two in the second half. Bristol didn’t really offer much of a threat and were probably the weakest team seen at Portman Road this season but may well survive due to Portsmouth being docked twelve points after entering administration.
This was the first of eight matches (five at home) we have to play in March and by the end of the month we could be sitting comfortably in the championship preparing for next season. Having picked up five wins from the previous six games Town now have 43 points with 13 games left to play. Seven more should see us safe but being twelve off the play-off’s the season could soon start to peter out.
